Why we built this
Finding addiction treatment in a crisis is hard, and most “directories” are lead-generation funnels that route calls to whoever pays the most. We built Georgia Recovery Guide as the opposite: a complete, statewide list of programs you can browse and contact directly, with no call center in between. Every program in Georgia can be listed for free, and inclusion is never contingent on payment.
How we source and verify listings
Our directory is compiled from public and authoritative sources, then checked against the programs’ own published information. Sources include:
- SAMHSA: the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration treatment locator and facility data.
- Georgia DBHDD: the state Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities licensing records for treatment providers.
- GARR: the Georgia Association of Recovery Residences registry of certified recovery housing.
- Program-published information: each program’s own website and public contact details for services, levels of care, and insurance accepted.
A listing marked with the Verified seal has been claimed and confirmed by the program itself through our claim process. Verification confirms that a program has reviewed its own details. It is an optional, program-initiated step and does not affect whether or where a program appears in the directory.
Our editorial standards
- Accuracy first. Clinical explanations (levels of care, insurance, MAT) are written in plain language and reflect established standards such as the ASAM criteria and federal mental-health parity law.
- No pay-to-rank. Program listings and their order are not sold. Paid verification changes the badge on a listing, not its ranking.
- Clearly dated. Guides carry a last-reviewed date so you know how current the information is.
- Corrections welcome. Programs and readers can request corrections at any time, and we update listings when details change.
What we are not
Georgia Recovery Guide is an information resource, not a medical provider. The content on this site is for educational purposes and is not medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always speak with a licensed clinician or the treatment program directly about your specific situation. If you are in crisis or thinking about suicide, call or text 988. The Suicide & Crisis Lifeline is free, confidential, and available 24 hours a day.
Editorial review
This site’s guides are maintained and reviewed by Evan Humphrey, Founder. Content was last reviewed on September 23, 2026.
Evan Humphrey is the founder of Georgia Recovery Guide. His review reflects firsthand industry experience with partial hospitalization (PHP), intensive outpatient (IOP), and sober living programs in Georgia. That experience is operational, not clinical: Georgia Recovery Guide provides no medical services and employs no clinical staff. For medical advice, speak with a licensed clinician or the treatment program directly.
